Welcome to the website of Friends of the Word, Inc. (“Friends of the Word,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms and Conditions (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of friendsoftheword.org and related pages, content, forms, and ministry resources we make available online.

By accessing or using this site, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

1. Who We Are

Friends of the Word, Inc. is a nonprofit Christian ministry associated with the work of Fr. Louis Scurti. We share homilies, prayer resources, mass and ministry information, podcast and on-air content, and related educational and pastoral materials. This site is provided for ministry, educational, and community purposes.

2. Informational and Ministry Purpose

Content on this site—including homilies, reflections, schedules, audio, video, and articles—is offered for spiritual enrichment, education, and general information. It is not a substitute for personal pastoral care, professional counseling, medical advice, legal advice, or other professional services. Always seek appropriate professional guidance for your personal circumstances.

3. User Responsibilities

You agree to use this site lawfully and respectfully. Without limitation, you agree that you will not:

Use the site for any unlawful, harmful, fraudulent, or abusive purpose
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems, accounts, or data
Interfere with or disrupt the site, servers, or networks
Upload malware, scrape the site in an abusive manner, or overload infrastructure
Harass, threaten, or defame others, or submit false or misleading information
Misrepresent your identity or affiliation when contacting us or submitting forms
Use ministry content in a way that suggests endorsement without our permission

We may refuse service, remove content, or restrict access where we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated.

4. Prayer Requests, Forms, and Communications

If you submit a prayer request, contact form, or other message, you represent that the information is accurate to the best of your knowledge and that you have the right to share it. Please do not include sensitive personal data that is not necessary for your request. We may review, share internally within the ministry as needed to respond, or decline to process certain submissions.

5. Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise noted, the site design, text, graphics, logos, audio, video, and other materials are owned by or licensed to Friends of the Word, Inc. and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws.

You may view, download, or print materials for personal, non-commercial, devotional, or educational use, provided you do not remove attribution or proprietary notices. You may not reproduce, distribute, modify, publicly display, create derivative works from, or commercially exploit site content without our prior written permission, except as allowed by fair use or other applicable law.

Trademarks, service marks, and trade names on the site are the property of their respective owners. Nothing in these Terms grants you a license to use our marks without permission.

6. Third-Party Links, Media, and Services

The site may link to or embed third-party services, including podcast platforms, video hosts, social media, donation processors, and external websites. We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, privacy practices, or availability. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk and subject to their terms.

7. Donations

If you choose to support Friends of the Word financially, donations may be processed by third-party payment providers. Those providers handle payment credentials under their own policies. Donation acknowledgments and tax-related information, where applicable, will be handled according to our ministry practices and applicable law. Donations are generally non-refundable except where required by law or in our sole discretion.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SITE AND ALL CONTENT ARE PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE.” TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, WE DISCLAIM ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SITE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, SECURE, OR FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

9. Limitation of Liability

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FRIENDS OF THE WORD, INC., ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, VOLUNTEERS, AGENTS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF (OR INABILITY TO USE) THE SITE OR CONTENT, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES.

TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SITE OR THESE TERMS SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US $100) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US (IF ANY) FOR THE SPECIFIC SERVICE GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations; in those cases, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

10. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Friends of the Word, Inc. and its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and agents from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising out of or related to your use of the site, your content or submissions, or your violation of these Terms or applicable law.

11. Privacy

Your use of the site is also subject to our Privacy Policy, which describes how we collect and use information. Please review it carefully.

12. Changes to the Site and Terms

We may update, suspend, or discontinue any part of the site at any time. We may also revise these Terms by posting an updated version with a new “Last updated” date. Your continued use after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms, except where applicable law requires otherwise.

13. Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey and applicable United States federal law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Except where prohibited by law, you agree that courts located in New Jersey shall have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the site, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there.

14. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force and effect. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any notices posted on the site, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the site and supersede prior agreements on that subject.
